




In the Tran Hung Dao forest, on December 22, 1944, following President Ho Chi Minh's directive, Comrade Vo Nguyen Giap announced the establishment of the Vietnam Propaganda and Liberation Army, the predecessor of the People's Army of Vietnam today. The team consisted of 34 soldiers, commanded by Comrade Vo Nguyen Giap. Of these 34 soldiers, 25 were from ethnic minority groups in Cao Bang province.
Here, visitors can explore and learn about the relics, documents, and artifacts related to the establishment and fighting of the Vietnam Propaganda and Liberation Army. Highlights include: the Tran Hung Dao forest complex (including the founding site of the Vietnam Propaganda and Liberation Army, the rest area and kitchen, the water source for daily life, and Slam Cao peak); and Tham Khau cave – once used as a communication station and food delivery point for revolutionary comrades. The historical sites include Phai Khat outpost – the site of the first battle fought by the Vietnam Liberation Propaganda Team after its establishment (December 25, 1944); Na Ngan outpost – marking the second victorious battle of the Team (December 26, 1944); and Va Pha historical site – where training and education classes for provincial cadres were held (February 1944).
In addition to visiting historical sites, tourists can also explore and admire the pristine beauty and enjoy the fresh air of the Tran Hung Dao forest, covering an area of over 201.7 hectares.
