In Cao Bang province, temples dedicated to Nung Tri Cao are erected in many places, honoring him as a national hero and deifying him as a god of agriculture. Along the "Journey to the Roots" route in the UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the Nung Tri Cao temple in Coc Vuong hamlet, Truong Ha commune.

The temple is built on a high mound, nestled against the sturdy Phja Ma mountain range like a fortress wall, facing the Ta Con River – an upstream branch of the Bang River. According to local people, Phja Ma mountain resembles a horse facing the temple; therefore, during prayers, the spirit of King Nung Tri Cao will ride down from the sky to bless the people with peace and safety.

Nung Tri Cao (1025-1053) is a historical figure representing the will and strength of the highland ethnic groups in their resistance against feudal ruling forces. The name and image of Nùng Trí Cao are deeply recorded in historical records and in the consciousness of the local people, not only in the provinces of Cao Bằng, Lạng Sơn, Tuyên Quang... but also in some neighboring countries such as China, Thailand, and Myanmar. In 1041, Nùng Trí Cao was appointed by the Lý dynasty as the governor of Quảng Nguyên (present-day Cao Bằng), governing a vast area and protecting the peace of the people. In 1043, he was granted the title of Thái Bảo (one of the three highest official positions during the Lý dynasty) and the Imperial Seal. He repeatedly organized forces to fight against the Song army, protecting the national border of Đại Việt. When Nùng Trí Cao died in battle, the Lý king was deeply saddened, ordered the people to build a temple in his honor, and issued a decree bestowing upon him the title of Khâu Sầm Đại Vương. Subsequent dynasties further bestowed upon him the honorary title: "Khâu Sầm, who saved the world, pacified the people, quelled the plague, was heroic, decisive, and efficacious, a great king who protected the nation and pacified the people."

The anniversary of Nùng Trí Cao's death is on the 9th day of the first lunar month, which is also the Sóc Giang festival day (Trường Hà district). The temple dedicated to Nùng Trí Cao is classified as a provincial-level historical relic according to Decision No. 2821/QD-UBND-VX dated December 26, 2011.
