Kim Dong, whose real name was Nong Van Den, was born in 1929 in Na Ma village, Truong Ha commune. Kim Dong was a Nung ethnic minority boy who was both intelligent and quick-witted. He was admitted to the National Salvation Children's Team and elected as its leader. The team was established on May 15, 1941, in Po Doi, Na Ma village, with the purpose of "fighting the French, expelling the Japanese, and winning independence for the country."
In August 1942, at Noc En cave, Kim Dong had the honor of meeting President Ho Chi Minh for the first time; the President encouraged him and assigned him the task of protecting the revolution. This heroic and courageous young man sacrificed his life at the age of 14 while on a mission. Later, the tomb of the heroic martyr Kim Dong was built in Na Ma village – his hometown; it is a place where youth union members, young people, and people from all over the country come to learn."
