Located on National Highway 4A, Khau Cốc Chà Pass is only about 2.5 km long, yet features 14 sharp hairpin turns that form a steep 15-tier incline. For a long time, this destination has stood out as a highlight of the majestic natural landscape of Xuan Truong Commune, Cao Bang Province.

According to local residents, the pass dates back to the French colonial period. At that time, it was merely a narrow mountain trail about 40 cm wide, clinging steeply to the dirt hillside—slippery, remote, and deserted. The pass ascends vertically along Coc Cha Mountain, connecting Xuan Truong Commune with Bao Lac Commune, near the border with China. Although not listed among Northern Vietnam's "Four Great Passes," this vertical 15-tier pass retains a unique appeal for travel enthusiasts.

For backpackers and adventurous travelers looking to explore pristine, majestic nature, this winding route—resembling a long serpent with 14 dramatic, twisting tiers—is an unmissable destination.
